Insomnia, Part 7

Jul02
2007
Written by Aaron DeLay

I cannot sleep.  It’s Monday morning just coming up on 1:00am and I cannot sleep.  My body is signaling that it is indeed very tired.  My brain is attempting to calm down and shoot some tranquilizers into the hamster on the wheel and yet here I sit in front of my glowing monitor, tip tapping my burned out hands across the keyboard in hopes that maybe the Sandman got stuck in traffic or was running late this morning and any minute I’ll hear the knock at the door.

One can dream.  That or I can count sheep.  Never tried it and I doubt that it’d work.  My brain would start imagining some kind of science fiction movie with the sheep and Rambo would come in come in guns a blazin’ while Captain Kirk fights a ram with that ultra cool jammin’ music they had back in the day.

It’s also the bed’s fault.  It’s a trundle bed (see below).trundle_bed.jpg

The mattress and the frame was free (it’s a twin size) but the comfortable factor is what is now causing me pain and robbing me of needed sleep.  What a living.

Somehow this happens every Monday and I can’t seem to find the magic switch to fix it.  I’ve seriously considered a sleeping pill of some kind but that’s a last resort.

Hopefully Sandman won’t be much longer.  Tooth Fairy just passed by and stuck her tongue out at me.
